Back at the blues again
Since my youth in the 60s I have been engaged with all kinds of guitar styles, and after a long journey through classical guitar, pop, rock, Irish folk and Latin groove I ended up back at the roots. For about 10 years I have been mainly concerned with the American black music of the 20s and 30s of the last century: ragtime, slide guitar, bottleneck, delta blues, blues harp and blues mandolin.

People say that when someone returns from a journey, some part of him will remain back there forever. Long backpacker trips, mostly by land, and related stays in the Middle East, Southeast Asia (often India) as well as Latin America, Russia and Central Asia gave me ample opportunity to meet wonderful people, to admire fascinating cultures and landscapes, to enjoy the musical diversity and to communicate in different languages.
I have long been conscious of the fact that everything is inextricably linked with everything else. For me, music is the ideal medium for non-verbal communication. So I am always happy to meet other musicians. In addition to playing the guitar and the blues harp and mandolin, I've also been playing the hurdy-gurdy, tin whistle and percussion instruments such as congas, djembe, cajón or shaker for a long time.
Wieder beim Blues.
Seit meiner Jugend in den 60ies beschäftige ich mich mit allerlei Gitarrenstilen und bin nach einer langen Reise durch Klassik, Pop, Rock, Irish Folk und Latin Groove wieder bei den Roots gelandet. Seit ca. 10 Jahren setze ich mich vorzugsweise mit der amerikanischen schwarzen Musik der 20er und 30er Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts auseinander: Ragtime, Slide-Gitarre, Bottleneck, Delta-Blues, Blues Harp und Blues Mandoline.

Man sagt, wenn jemand von einer Reise heimkehre, bleibe ein Teil von ihm für immer zurück. Lange Backpacker-Trips, meist auf dem Landweg, sowie damit verbundene Aufenthalte im Mittleren Osten, Südostasien (häufig Indien) sowie Lateinamerika, Russland und Zentralasien gaben mir reichlich Gelegenheit, wunderbare Menschen anzutreffen, faszinierende Kulturen und Landschaften zu bewundern, die musikalische Vielfalt zu genießen und in verschiedenen Sprachen zu kommunizieren. Schon lange ist mir bewusst, dass alles mit allem untrennbar verbunden ist. Musik ist für mich das ideale Medium nonverbaler Kommunikation. Ich freue mich daher stets über das Zusammentreffen mit anderen Musikern. Neben dem Gitarrenspiel und der Blues-Harp sowie -Mandoline musiziere ich in diesem Zusammenhang auch schon lange auf der Drehleier, Tin Whistle und Percussion-Instrumenten, wie Congas, Djembe, Cajón oder Shaker.
